Dear State College Soccer Alumna and friends,

Next year marks the 20th Anniversary of the inaugural season of the State College Area High School Girls Soccer Team. Please join us in celebrating our amazing two decade story of excellence in soccer and helping to get the next 20 years off to a great start. From the club team playing before 1988 continuing through the critical first years as a varsity sport through today’s current athletes, we have given the State College community and many young players a successful legacy of girls soccer to enjoy.

Save the Date! The 20th Anniversary event is scheduled for Labor Day Weekend 2008 (Saturday, August 30 - Monday, September 1). We’ve started planning a year ahead in order to allow enough time to contact alumni and plan the event. Please mark you calendars & save the date!

Just as a reminder, and as it is at Memorial Field, the following items are banned from within the boundaries of the new STF facility:

1.    No seeds of any kind.

We have secured the following practice dates on turf in the coming days/weeks:

Friday, September 21: STF @ 6:00
Tuesday, September 25: STF @ 4:00
Wednesday, September 26: MF @ 6:30
Thursday, September 27: MF @ 4:00

Dubois: Varsity players have a 3pm dismissal to get to the field. JV players with water responsibility should do what they can to get water and ice to the field in a timely manner.

Grier: JV players get dismissed at 3pm. Varsity players and captains should arrange to get water and ice to the field, and have ball girls prepared for the match.

Peters Township: According to their athletic web site, the fields are just under two miles east of the high school itself. The surface is field turf, approximately the same age as Memorial Field’s. Players are to arrive at the North Building by 8:30am for an 8:45 departure. Peters is arranging to feed us after the matches, probably a short cookout or something.  CORRECTION:  The field is right behind the high school, so you should just travel directly to the high school.

Arrival time for players at the North Building of the high school is 8:15am, departure is 8:30am.  Our approximate anticipated return to State College is 4:15pm.  Our game is at the Montoursville Middle School.   Take 220N to exit 21 and take PA-87 toward Montoursville.  Take a slight right at Fairview Drive and then make a right on Willow Street.

Dismissal is at 1:45, departure is at 2:00. We expect an 8:45 arrival. JV parents and players beware, we are already going to start running out of light towards the end of the JV matches. Directions to Clearfield Area High School were the games are played:

CLEARFIELD HS/BISON SPORTS COMPLEX
From I-80, Exit 120 take Rt. 879W (toward Curwensville) approx. 4 miles
to Hyde traffic light, proceed across Hyde bridge, continue thru
village of Hyde for 1.8 miles, right turn onto Clearfield HS driveway,
"Visitor" parking in front of bldg. FROM RT. 322E (State College) go
past Long John Silvers, immediate right after overpass onto Rt. 879W.

We’ll be at Welch both days.

Shik doesn’t have a JV team this year but they are being replaced by South Williamsport JVs at the Central Mountain tournament.  Schedule remains the same.

The Mt. Lebanon games on October 13 now have new kickoff times. Varsity kicks off at 12:30pm, Junior Varsity kicks off at 2:00pm. Departure is now set for 8:30am. More details as the game gets closer.
